Study launched: the impact of journal data sharing policies

Filed under: Uncategorized — Heather Piwowar @ 10:15 am

Data collection has begun for my research study into the impacts of journal data sharing policies.

The study — The impact of public data archiving policies on attitudes, experiences, and practices of authors — explores the impact of journal policies on the attitudes, experiences, and practices of active scientists.

For the next three years, I’ll invite corresponding authors from selected journals to take an online questionnaire.  The goal of the study is to see how author attitudes, experiences, and practices evolve over time as journal data sharing policies come into effect.

For more information, please see the study website.  You can also subscribe to news updates on the study via email or RSS.

This study will provide important and useful evidence around actual data sharing practices, rewards, and obstacles to inform future policy development and implementation.  I look forward to reporting the results in a few years!
