Something exciting is happening this week.  A high-profile petition has just launched to

Require free access over the Internet to journal articles arising from taxpayer-funded research.

Sounds like a no-brainer, right?  Right.

The petition will be placed in the Executive Office of the President for integration into policy if it gets 25k signatures in 30 days.  It is well on its way and it isn’t even start of business on the west coast yet… but WE NEED YOU to join us and speak out for access to research!

Librarian?
Grad student?
Retired faculty member?
Science-loving 16 year old?
Editor?
Startup founder?
Industry scientist?
Postdoc?
Publisher? (c’mon you know you want to)

Canadian? No problem. All can sign. Let’s get this done in the US, it’ll pressure Cdn govt for same.

It takes 3 minutes (you have to create an account at whitehouse.gov). Three minutes is less time than it takes you to find a paper PDF, is it not?

Let’s do this.
Add your name and spread the word.
